Most cookie policies are written to describe a website loaded with tracking, then edited down. This one describes what is actually in the code of this website, which is very little.

• This website sets no cookies. Not essential ones, not analytics ones, not advertising ones.
• It uses one item of session storage, named nf-intro, so the brief branded introduction animation plays only once per browsing session.
• There is no third-party analytics, advertising or social media tracking of any kind.
• Nothing on this site tracks you across websites or builds a profile of you.
• There is no cookie banner, because there is nothing that requires consent.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, and which the browser sends back to that website on later requests. Cookies are commonly used to keep people logged in, remember preferences, measure how a site is used, and — in the case of advertising cookies — to follow people between websites.

There are also similar technologies that store information in your browser without being cookies:

• Session storage — data held only for the lifetime of a browser tab. It is cleared automatically when the tab is closed, and it is never transmitted to the website's server.

5. Browser storage this website uses

This website uses exactly one item of browser storage. Here it is in full.

Why this is strictly necessary

It exists solely to avoid re-showing an animation you have already seen. Without it, the introduction sequence would replay on every single page, which would be an obstruction rather than a feature. It stores no identifier, it is never sent to our server, it cannot be read by any other website, and it disappears when you close the tab.

This falls within the strictly necessary exception, so no consent is required for it. Even so, if you would rather it were not used at all, see section 10.

What happens if you block it

Nothing breaks. If session storage is unavailable — for example in a browser with storage disabled — the website works normally and the brief introduction simply plays each time a page loads. All content remains fully accessible.

If you prefer reduced motion

If your device or browser is set to prefer reduced motion, the introduction is reduced to an effectively immediate transition. This preference is read from your browser settings each time; it is not stored by this website.

6. Why there is no cookie banner

Because there is nothing here that requires consent.

Consent is required for storage that is not strictly necessary — analytics, advertising, personalisation, tracking. This website uses none of those. Displaying a banner asking you to accept storage that does not exist would be a piece of theatre rather than a protection, and it would train you to click “accept” without reading, which helps nobody.

We have also avoided introducing non-essential storage in the first place, which we regard as a better outcome than introducing it and then asking permission. Should that ever change, section 11 sets out exactly what we would do.

7. What this website does not use

Stated explicitly, because absence is easy to overlook:

• No advertising cookies and no advertising networks.
• No marketing or retargeting trackers of any kind.
• No third-party analytics — no Google Analytics or any comparable service.
• No social media pixels, share widgets or embedded feeds.
• No embedded videos, maps or third-party fonts loaded from external services.
• No content delivery networks — all styling, scripting, images and fonts are served from this website itself.
• No fingerprinting or device identification techniques.
• No cross-site tracking of any kind.
• No local storage — only the single session storage item described above.
• No user accounts, logins or persistent identifiers.

Because there are no external resources, loading a page of this website does not disclose your visit to any third party.

8. Third-party content

This website does not embed third-party content, and does not load scripts, styles, fonts or images from external domains.

Where we link out to another organisation's website, following that link takes you to a site we do not control, which will have its own approach to cookies and privacy. We suggest reading the policy of any site you visit.

The enquiry form on our contact page does not transmit anything by itself. When you submit it, the details are assembled into a message and handed to your own email application, which you then choose to send. No third-party form service is involved, and the form stores nothing in your browser.

9. Hosting and server logs

Separately from anything stored in your browser, the servers hosting this website may automatically record basic technical information when a page is requested — such as the IP address of the requesting device, the date and time, the page requested, and basic browser and device information.

This is generated by the hosting infrastructure for delivering the website, keeping it secure and diagnosing faults. It is not a cookie and does not involve storing anything on your device. We do not use it to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine it with other information to build a profile. See section 3.5 of our Privacy Policy.

10. Managing and clearing storage

The nf-intro session storage item is cleared automatically when you close the browser tab. You do not need to do anything.

If you would like to remove it immediately, or prevent it being used at all, you can:

• Close the tab — the item is discarded automatically.
• Clear site data — most browsers allow you to clear cookies and site data for an individual website through the padlock or site information icon in the address bar.
• Browse privately — a private or incognito window discards all storage when it is closed.
• Block site data — most browsers allow you to block storage for particular sites. Blocking it here has no effect other than the introduction animation playing on each page load.
• Disable JavaScript — the item is only written by JavaScript. With scripting disabled, nothing at all is stored, and the website remains fully readable and navigable, including the menus and the frequently asked questions.

11. If this ever changes

We intend to keep this website free of non-essential storage. If we ever introduce anything beyond what is strictly necessary, we commit that:

• it will not be set or run before valid consent has been given;
• a clear consent mechanism will be provided, and rejecting will be as easy as accepting — no pre-ticked boxes, no hidden reject option, no design that pushes you towards accepting;
• you will be able to withdraw consent as easily as you gave it;
• this page will be updated first, with the actual names, purposes and durations of anything used;
• strictly necessary storage will continue to operate regardless of your choice, as it must for the site to function.

The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. We will keep this page accurate against the code that is actually running.
